4 foreign banks allowed to issue baht bonds

Finance Ministry has given five international financial institutions the greenlight to issue baht bonds in Thailand

Chakkrit Parapuntakul, director general of the Public Debt Management Office, said that these institutions are Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Deutsche Bank, Internal Finance Corporation, the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Each would be able to raise funds via baht-denominated bonds worth up to Bt4 billion, before September 30 this year.

Other foreign financial institutions could apply for bond issuance approval next month. The ministry currently allows international financial institutions to apply for bond issuance every February, May, August and November.
