Another multicoloured mass rally held at Victory Monument

Some 2,000 people rallied at the Victory Monument Saturday afternoon to show moral support for the government and to counter red-shirt protests.

Most of the demonstrators are fans of the anti-House dissolution Facebook page and members of the group of "civilian volunteers to protect the motherland".

They gathered at the Victory Monument at 4 pm. They were led by Doctor Tul Sitthisomwong to sing the national anthem, the royal anthem and several other patriotic songs as well as a special song for His Majesty, "the father of the land".  They waved the national flag and the flag representing His Majesty the King while singing.

Several demonstrators carried banners with wordings like "Stop protesting, we want to live our normal life; we provide moral support to troops", "No House dissolution but red-shirt leaders must go to jail", and "We are against House dissolution and charter amendments to whitewash wrongdoers".

The demonstrators also chanted in unison as "We love the king, we love the country" and "Long live the King".

Tul and other leaders also took turn to speak to the demonstrators during which they attacked the red-shirt movement and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Tul told the crowd that the rally was held with a goal t o return peace and normalcy to the country as soon as possible.

He said the people would like to be able to travel to anyplace without having to fear about danger.

Tul said the red-shirt people caused severe hardship to a lot of people by blocking the Rajprasong Intersection.

"The red-shirt movement called for democracy but they completely ignored our rights," Tul said.

He said the multicoloured demonstrators will gather at the Victory Monument again at 4 pm Sunday and will march to the Peace Park which is located at the Rajvithi-Rangnam Intersection.

On Monday, the multicoloured groups will demonstrate again at the Chatuchak Park at 4 pm.

On Tuesday, they will gather at the Royal Plaza at 4 pm.
