A doctor and lecturer of Chulalongkorn University led a group of government's supporters to visit Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva at the Government House to show their moral support. The group was led by Doctor Tul Sitthisomwong, a lecturer of Chulalongkorn's Faculty of Medicine.
About 10 academics and medical personnel from Ramathibodi Hospital and Chulalongkorn University also accompanied Tul to meet the prime minister at 8 am.
The so-called group of Jamjuree Rakchart or Chulalongkorn community led by Panjama Siripichitsuppapol met the prime minister at 8:30 am.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the prime minister, Tul denied that his group was linked to the People's Alliance for Democracy and the military.
He said his group was established by Internet users, who have forwarded mails among themselves and formed the group of about 10,000 people.
He said the group was formed after Abhisit negotiated with the red-shirt leaders about House dissolution.
Tul said his group saw that the prime minister should remain running the country instead of dissolving the House as demanded by the red-shirt movement.
Tul said he once spoke at the PAD rally because at that time he supported the causes of the PAD but the current campaign of his group had nothing to do with the PAD.
He said his group simply wanted to express frustration of the group's members to the public about the moves of the red-shirt people.
Tul said the red-shirt movement should respect other people's freedom of expression instead of intimidating other people who disagree with the red-shirt people.
But his group would try its best to avoid confrontation with the red-shirt people, he said.
Friday was the second day that Abhsit returned to work at the Government House after the red-shirt rally began on March 12.
The prime minister left his house on Soi Sukhumvi 31 at 7:30 am amid heavy protection by a motorcade of special troops and police.
Abhisit arrived at the Government House at 7:45 am.
The compound remains heavily guarded by police and troops.
Apart from Abhisit, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, Pm's Secretary-General Korbsak Sabhavasu and Deputy PM's Secretary-General Panitharn Watanayakorn also came to work at the Government House.
