Hardcore comes to town

Lamb of God will bleat heavy metal beats at Mahisorn Hall

Virginia-based heavy metal band Lamb of God will be herded into Bangkok next week for a show that will have ears bleeding.

"Lamb of God is an excellent metal band," says Sayam "Ton" Chumthong, the founder and guitarist of local death metallers Dezember. "All the members are skilled musicians. They remind me a bit of Slayer but the sound is cleaner.

"The most popular member is drummer Chris Adler, who's a very talented percussionist. Personally, I like them all."

Lamb of God was formed in 1994 by guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler and bassist John Campbell. They were later joined by vocalist Randy Blythe and drummer Adler.

The quintet has six studio albums, one live album, and three DVDs to its credit and in 2007, received a Grammy nomination for its 2006 album "Sacrament". Lamb of God has toured with the Ozzfest twice and appeared on Slayer's "The Unholy Alliance" tour in 2006.

This year, they'll be on the Mayhem Festival's main stage along with Korn, Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch. They were a Grammy nominee for Best Metal Performance this year for "Set to Fail" but lost out to Judas Priest.
