The number of students applying to four Bangkok-based schools, located in areas where the red-shirt protests are taking place, was very low yesterday.
Apart from the 700 students who filed their applications for Satri Witthaya School on the school's website, there were only about 400 walk-ins at the four schools, Education Minister Chinaworn Boonyakiat said yesterday.
"There were about 100 students on average applying at each of the schools," he added.
Following the Internal Security law being put in effect in eight provinces, enrolment for the 7th and 10th grades in schools deemed to be at risk has been postponed from March 13-17 to March 24-26.
Entrance exams for these schools will be held on Sunday, he said, urging parents to keep a close eye on the ministry's website, www.moe.go.th, or call 1579 for more details.
