Super cow wins Thai team top prize

A Thai team has emerged as winner of the Thammasat Asia Moot Corp (TUAMC) this year, beating contenders from eight other countries, including Japan, Singapore and China.

"We are delighted," Nudchavee Kittitrakul, from the Mega Milk Dairies team, said.

Her team, all Thammasat University students, impressed the judges with its super-cow project, under which cows will be geneti-cally crossbred to create a hybrid that can beat the heat and resist disease.

"It will be able to produce more milk with higher nutritional con-tent and it will cost less," Nudchavee said, adding that her team probably won because the project was very practical.

The Asia Moot Corp ran from March 9 to 11.

"We relied on time-tested tech-nology and on something for which there is clear demand," Nudchavee said.

All members of the team are doing masters degrees in Business Administration at the university's international programme.

Assoc Prof Gasinee Witoonchart, who heads Thammasat University's Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, said she was very proud.

TUAMC is recognised as the top graduate entrepreneurship programme in Asia and is one of the best in the world.

"Our students' victory is good for the country's reputation," Gasinee said, adding that the team was set to go to the next level and compete for a championship in the US in May.

"The Global Moot Corp will be held at the University of Texas in Austin," she said.

Nudchavee said her team would do its best at the Global Moot Corp. "We want to boost the reputation of Thailand and Thammasat," she said.
