Former PM Thaksin Shinawatra's lawyer will next week file a petition with the Supreme Court asking it to review the verdict it recently issued on the assets-seizure case.
According to law, Thaksin has 30 days to lodge an appeal and the case will only be reopened if there is fresh evidence pertinent to it.
The majority of the judges voted on February 26 for the confiscation of Bt46 billion of the Bt76 billion of Thaksin's family assets frozen by the authorities.
Chattip said the appeal was consistent with the Constitution and legal procedures, adding that it could be sent to the court as early as Monday.
The lawyers' team will detail in the petition why the case should be reopened, he said. For instance, he added, the court had not deliberated on the Constitution Court's previous ruling on the legality of an excise tax on telecom services.
"The clients are exercising their rights in accordance with the Constitution and principles of justice because several legal points were not considered in the February 26 verdict. So if some evidence was not considered, it can be brought up again," he said.
