A man who took part in the gang rape of a girl two years ago was sentenced to a lengthy prison term yesterday.
Phet Nilphet was initially handed a life term for the gang rape, but the Criminal Court commuted it to 25 years citing his confession during trial. He will be serving an additional two and a half years for taking the 12-year-old victim from parental custody.
In March 2008, the 30-year-old took the girl to an abandoned house in the Khao San area in Bangkok where she was violated by him and six other men, three of whom were minors at the time. Police have yet to locate the other six suspects.
