Japanese prince cancels trip to Thailand

Prince Akishino, the second son of Japan's Emperor Akihito, has cancelled a private trip to Thailand, due to the red-shirt rally.

The prince will visit only Laos, Kyodo News Agency reported yesterday. Initially, the prince was scheduled to leave Japan today and stay in Thailand until next Tuesday before joining his 18-year-old daughter, Princess Mako, in Laos, where they would stay until March 28.

However, now he is scheduled to depart Tokyo's Narita Airport with his daughter next Tuesday for Laos via Bangkok.
