Bangkok Deputy Governor Taya Teepsuwan was in the blue Volkswagen van that tried to cut into Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's motorcade on Wednesday evening.
She thought she could get home more quickly by attaching herself to the motorcade, her husband, Bangkok MP Natthapol Teepsuwan, revealed yesterday.
Natthapol, who is also a Democrat Party director, said he owned the van and that Taya had driven it to Parliament that day to give testimony to a standing committee.
On her way back home, she spotted the premier's motorcade heading towards the Yommarat Expressway, so her driver turned on the headlights and tried to join it, since Taya's residence was on the way to Abhisit's.
Taya did not realize the sensation this had caused until she saw the news yesterday morning, Natthapol said, adding that he would explain what had happened to Abhisit.
The media have closely followed the prime minister's movements lately following several bizarre incidents. Besides Wednesday's motorcade incident, faeces have been flung at his residence on two occasions - one involving human waste and the other cow dung.
