RALLY

Events cancelled, but normal bank operations continue

The Stock Exchange of Thailand has cancelled all activities to take place during March 12-14, on concerns over inconvience of visitors and their safety.

Tomorrow, the SET originally planned to host a number of company interviews under the Opportunity Day programme at the exchange's building, as well as a seminar on the Board of Investment's measures to promote the capital market at Dusit Princess Srinakarin Hotel.

Cancelled also included the training courses on financial products on Saturday and Sunday. Its library will be closed on the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) also announced the postponement of the Asia Game Award and Cyber Game Asia 2010, parts of the "Digital Media Asia 2010" project. The event was planned for tomorrow at Centara Grand at CentralWorld. It has not yet announced the new date.

Meanwhile, Siam Commercial Bank President Kannikar Chalitaporn on Thursday insisted that the bank has beefed up security measures at the headquarter and branches to cope with chaos, for safety of customers and staff.

The bank will operate as usual and all ATM machine is fully loaded. Though managers of some branches in risk areas may decide to temporarily shut down the branches, customers are urged to use services at nearby branches.

Kannikar assured all customers of the safety of their assets and document, and hoped that the protest would be peaceful.
