A 45-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly hurled a bag of excrement against a building in the Democrat Party headquarters in Bangkok on Tuesday morning.
Suspect Surachai Kerddee was taken to the Bang Sue police station for questioning. He claimed he was unhappy with the lack of progress to a compliant submitted to the government in 2004, and the government's interference with the media.
Surachai reportedly walked calmly past the police team manning the head office's entrance at around 10am. The officers didn't pay attention to or stop him, thinking he was going to a snooker parlour behind the office.
Reaching the shop, Surachai walked back to the Seni Pramoj Building and hurled the bag of excrement at its door.
Police investigations found Surachai has been treated for mental illness at Srinthanya Hospital for some 10 years. The man reportedly separated from his wife two weeks ago allegedly due to his habit of beating her up.
A search at his home found a pistol, which police are checking to see if it is legal.
