Career Juice+: Six career groups flourishing after the rain

The first two months of 2010 have flown by, and many countries are starting to recover from the economic crisis of 2008 and 2009.

It seems that countries in Asia have recovered the best, with China being the best example.

So we are hoping that Thailand will be able to recover as fast as others in the region.

Last year, the unemployment numbers in Thailand were fairly high, standing at about 800,000 at the beginning of 2009.

However, the figure dropped to around 390,000 by November, according to an official report from the Labour Ministry's Employment Department.

This reduction showed that the employment situation is easing, which is good news for those who are looking for a new job or to make a change in their career paths.

That said, let's see which types of employees are in the highest demand.

According to a Manpower Thailand report based on information from our clients across more than 400 companies, the following career groups are still in high demand in the job market:

-Engineering, manufacturing, production

-Sales, business development, account management

-Information technology, computer, e-commerce

-Accounting, finance, auditing, banking

-Marketing, branding, product management

-Customer service, call centre

Aside from Manpower's research, information from the Employment Department shows that the hospitality and retail career groups are still in demand, as well.

So those of you still looking for a job in the fields mentioned, start sending out your resumé and filling out application forms now.

Good luck!
