With many provinces in the South getting hit with torrential rains, temperatures in the North are dipping very low that places like Chiang Mai's Doi Inthanon national park was covered in frost for the first time this year.
In the South, emergency has been declared in all 13 districts in Narathiwat and 16 districts in Songkhla due to massive flooding. Around 60,000 people in 18,000 households in 61 tambon have been affected, while another 2,800 people living in three districts had been evacuated to higher ground. Property damage has been estimated at Bt44 million.
In Yala, a large number of people were forced to abandon their homes and instead set up residence on two major highways, along with their poultry and cattle. Three major schools have been closed indefinitely due to flooding.
In Satun, a large number of people were evacuated in Tambon Chalung, with 1,500 survival kits being distributed to those in need.
In Pattani, four schools are closed and people used boats to traverse the roads under two metres of water in two tambon of the Muang district. Some 1,000 people have been affected.
In Phatthalung, 47 villages in four districts have been inundated. The Bang Nara, Sai Buri and Kolok Rivers are overflowing, flooding riverside homes in 11 districts in Phatthalung and neighbouring Narathiwat.
