The government will allocate an initial Bt2 billion to resolving environmental and publichealth problems in the Map Ta Phut area, where 76 industrial projects were recently suspended, Deputy Prime Minister Kobsak Sabhavasu said yesterday.
The budget will be managed by a new foursided committee chaired by former premier Anand Panyarachun.
Kobsak said the Anand committee had been tasked with solving problems barring the government and the private sector from complying with Article 67 of the Constitution.
The panel will consist of four representatives from civic society, four government officials, four privatesector executives and five experts.
The 76 projects were suspended in September by the Central Administrative Court on grounds that they had failed to comply with Article 67 of the 2007 charter, which requires the decisionmaking participation of the communities where the projects will be situated.
