The Public Health Ministry is urging all provincial health offices to be prepared for the second TypeA (H1N1) outbreak expected early next month, during which at least 6 million people will be at risk.
The committee in charge of flu prevention, chaired by Deputy PM Sanan Kachornprasart, asked for an additional Bt450 million yesterday as funding to tackle the outbreak.
Though last week was the first time in four months that no one died from the flu, Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai said this was no time to be complacent and ordered provincial health offices and hospital directors to prepare vaccines, launch fluprevention campaigns and help volunteers get to patients as early as possible to avoid deaths.
