BODY BUILDING

Sitthi bids to reclaim title

Former world champion Sitthi Charoenrit is spearheading Thailand's challenge in the week-long WBPF Men's Body World Body building Championships in Doha, which started yesterday.

Sitthi, who reigned as the 80kg World Amateur Champion between 2005 and 2006, is on a mission to reclaim his title. "I want to become the world champion again but I face tough competition from Iranian, Iraqi and United Arab Emirate bodybuilders. I'm always confident going into a contest but in the end it all depends on the judges," said Sitthichai.

As well as the 36-year-old from Surin, the Thai team comprises Suwit Ketjunsa (70 kg), Somkit Sumethowechaku (65 kg) and Jeerapan Pongkham (55 kg).
