Thailand's long struggle to bring back fugitive bank fraud suspect Rakesh Saxena from Canada will likely reach a conclusion next week.
"As for details of our coordination with Canada's high public prosecution office, it's likely that Saxena will be extradited to Thailand. However, I would not like to comment further on a pending court decision [in Canada]. In the next week, there will be certainty over the issue," Sirisak Tiyaphan, directorgeneral of the International Affairs Department at the AttorneyGeneral's Office, said yesterday.
Saxena has been accused of embezzling US$88 million (Bt3 billion) from Bangkok Bank of Commerce, and the statute of limitations on his cases will expire next year.
