Ninth consecutive win at one of the region's top travel awards
United Airlines, one of the world's largest transpacific carriers, has once again been chosen by discerning frequent travelers as the "Best North American Airline" in the Asia-Pacific region at the 2009 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Travel Awards. This is the ninth consecutive year United has won the accolade.
"We are very grateful to our customers and industry peers for recognizing the effort we have put into satisfying their travel needs," says James Mueller, Vice President, Pacific, United Airlines. "Since the Asia-Pacific region has always been a key element of our global network, United is committed to hearing what customers here have to say and giving them the products and services they desire. The rave reviews customers have given us on our new First and Business Class lie-flat seats are the latest example of our success in meeting their high expectations."
Inaugurated in 1982, the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Travel Awards is one of this region's most prestigious accolades for top players in the travel industry. Every year, industry professionals and savvy travelers, in Asia and around the world, were surveyed on their opinions of airlines, hotels, destinations and travel industry services. The 2009 results are verified and compiled by independent global market research company, Synovate.
United is the first U.S. carrier to introduce all-new First Class Suite and Business Class cabin with a 180º fully-flat bed and iPod connectivity. Currently, the majority of United's international fleet flying to and from Asia has already been configured with these new flat beds.
United is also the only U.S. carrier to offer three cabins of service on all of its international overseas flights. In addition to first and business services, United offers economy class with its Economy Plus® seating, which provides up to 13 extra centimeters of legroom.
