The warrior returns
Thai masked dance - or khon - returns to the stage of the Thailand Cultural Centre on Sunday at 2 as the Fine Arts Department presents "Hanuman the Great Warrior", an episode from the "Ramayana". The production features dancers Pakorn Pornpisut, national artist Supachai Chansuwan, Wanthanee Muangboon and Prasart Thongaram aka Khru Mued. Tickets are Bt500 to Bt2,000 at Thaiticketmajor.
Bridge too far
The Akko Art Gallery's new show "Bridge 2009", featuring works by 13 contemporary Japanese artists, opens next Monday at 6.30pm. Keiko Ashikaga, Kenji Hashimoto, Akinori Ito, Kato Shojiro, Yuko Kawaguchi and Norito Taya are among the artists presenting paintings in abstract and semi-abstracts styles in different techniques and on different themes. Shoegazing
Get some sole into your soul with "Portraits of Shoes, Stories of Feet", which brings together nearly 60 types of footwear from the 18th to the present day at the Thailand Creative and Design Centre on the sixth floor of the Emporium. It's part of La Fete 2009 and features shoes from the collection of the International Footwear Museum in Romans, France, as well as South Korean and French collections. The show runs through August 30. The TCDC is open from 10am to 9pm daily except Monday.
