A police taskforce yesterday arrested 18 Chinese and Taiwanese nationals in Chon Buri's Sri Racha province where they have allegedly operated their "call centre" scams in three luxury rented houses.
Acting on tip-offs and records of frequent long distance phone calls made to China and Taiwan, police raided the three homes in Boulevard housing estate and arrested eight Chinese and nine Taiwanese nationals including 10 men and 8 women in total.
The alleged ring leader is identified as Th.Hsi Chang, 30, who has been charged initially with public fraud along with all other suspects. Police also seized eight computer notebooks, 30 mobile phones and many bank books, a large number of name cards of Chinese and Taiwanese business people.
