For Thaksin, daughter’s wedding just another political opportunity

Thaksin Shinawatra crowed that his daughter’s wedding in Hong Kong on Friday had to be rearranged so as not to clash with the celebrations after his Pheu Thai Party won Sunday’s general election.

Addressing guests at the wedding, Thaksin said he initially planned to hold the reception on March 23, but the hotel’s banquet room was not available. “So I moved the date to today because if we held it after March 24, we were afraid the room would be jam-packed because we will definitely win [Sunday’s election]” he said.

It looks like for Thaksin, everything in life is inextricably linked with politics.
