Re: “Catholic Church must not kowtow to China”, Opinion & Analysis, yesterday.
Surely the Vatican must have snuck a priest into The Nation’s typesetting rooms when the Washington Post’s opinion piece was being readied for the printing press. I am certain that the headline should have read, “China must not kowtow to the Vatican”. And, the last sentence should have read, “In making a deal with the Vatican, China must not relinquish its independence, nor should it forsake those who have fought against the Vatican for their freedom, or give in to a religion that wantonly suffocates liberty and human dignity.”
