Yingwai’s attempt to make a case for a naive and innocent Putin is short-sighted and pathetic. It is, of course, true that hard evidence will never be found to support accusations against the Russian leader, who remains widely admired in his country. Putin is too clever for that.
But, as the saying goes, “If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck...” – come on, it’s a duck! Only yesterday we heard that a member of the activist rock band Pussy Riot, who disrupted the World Cup final in Moscow right in front the boss, had been poisoned and is in critical condition.
Life is full of intriguing coincidences, is it not, Yingwai? People who oppose Putin have a tendency to be shot, poisoned, exiled, locked up or shipped off to Siberian gulags which, 27 years after the demise of the USSR, are alive and “welcoming” guests again.
