Question for Abhisit Vejjajiva: Do you support outsider PM?

In saying that “anyone contemplating supporting General Prayut” to return as an outsider prime minister need not join the Democrat Party, its leader Abhisit Vejjajiva should have clarified exactly what he disagrees with: the process that allows for an outsider PM, the candidate in that process (Prayut), or both.

Personally, I have no problem with anybody becoming PM – so long as he or she comes to the post by election, which is consistent with a democracy. Allowing for an outsider PM encourages parties to negotiate to form a government in bad faith, for if negotiations fail, then an outsider can come in – and the deck is stacked in favour of a military-approved candidate.
