Re: “Baseless attack on PETA deflects from problem of elephant abuse”, Have Your Say, yesterday.
If People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals really cares about animal welfare, it should go after China, where animal cruelty is prevalent and there is no law against it.
If you google “animal cruelty in China”, I guarantee your hair will stand up straight. PETA was mum about recent dog-eating festivals in China, but it was agitated over circuses, dog shows and fashion shows in the US and the EU.
Strangely, the group only goes after global businesses: franchise restaurants, cosmetic companies, fashion houses and pharmaceutical companies, all with big money. And now it is after Minor International hotels group here in Bangkok.
It makes me doubt if PETA really cares about animal welfare, and actually cares about something else.
