The Bible has advice for vegetarians – and their critics

Despite what some may lead you to believe, there is no conclusive scientific evidence proving that a vegetarian diet is healthy or unhealthy for one’s body.

So with that being the scientific case, I think it would be useful to see what religion says about the issue.

Since I am a Christian, I will cite these interesting verses from a letter of Paul to the Romans (14:2-3):

“For one believes he eats all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.

“Let not him who eats despise him who does not, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God receives him.”

Clearly, this is saying that eating vegetables alone is not good for our health, and further that vegetarians have no right to judge those who eat what they want. This should give our vegetarian friends further pause for thought.
