Little Bao Bangkok at 72 Courtyard on Thong Lor celebrated the recent crowning of May Chow as Asia’s Best Female Chef with a one-of-a-kind 8-Hands banquet created by Chow and her friends Ton from Le Du, Nan Bunyasaranand from Little Beast, and Dylan Jones of Bo.Lan.

The enterprising entrepreneur also rounded up bartender pals Jamie Rhind from Bamboo Bar, Saimai Natarat from Bunker as well as Somkanay Singha and Mingway Chi from Bootleggers to whip up some specialty cocktails based on local spirits Grandma Jinn’s and Cha-Thai.

True to Little Bao’s core philosophy of sharing, diners were treated to a fun family-style tasting menu that was inspired by the abundance of Chinese banquet feasts. The restaurant was packed and all 60 seats taken as diners indulged in the signature dishes and sipped cocktails prepared by the renowned chefs and bartenders.

“The name of this event “8-Hands Banquet” comes from the four chefs. Generally when two chefs are together, they have four hands. We’re so lucky to have four great chefs with eight hands and eight is also a lucky number in Chinese,” Chow told her guests.

“Our point of having a restaurant is to have fun. Little Bao is about having fun. And working with these chefs has been a whole lot of fun.”

Some of the signature dishes served at the banquet included: mushroom and onsen egg salad, pork feet and sugar snap pea salad, duck shumai, steamed crab and rice, grilled red coconut curry and 36-hour slow cooked Wagyu short rib bao among others. The feast ended with ice cream bao by Chow herself.

Located in the booming Thonglor district amongst some of the capital’s best bars and restaurants, Little Bao Bangkok is one of the hottest dining spots on trendy Sukhumvit Soi 55.
