The miserable season of Thai’s second seeded Bunyawi Thamchaiwat continued as she crashed out in the first round of the US$15,000 Cal-Comp & XYZ Printing ITF Pro Circuit W1 after losing to Australian qualifier Michaela Haet 6-0 5-7 3-6 at the True Arena Hua Hin on Monday.
The 17-year-old from Nakhon Ratchasima has yet to win a match following two early defeats in the US$15,000 ITF event in Nishi-Tama and the first qualifying round of a US$25,000 ITF event in Kofu in March.
In the other first round actions, fifth seed Karman Kaur Thandi of India beat Sarah Beth Grey of Australia 6-0 4-6 6-3. Sung-hee Han of South Korea outlast Natasha Palha of India 3-6 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-4). Jiahui Chen beat qualifier Ran Meng 6-3 6-4 in the all Chinese affair.
On Tuesday, top seed Margarita Lazareva of Russia, ranked No 452 in the world, will kick off her action against Chinese Wushuang Zheng of China.
Thailand’s hope will now rely on veteran Nudnida Luangnam who will take on young compatriot Punnin Kovapitukted while Varunya Wongteanchai will play fourth seed Pei-Chi Lee of Taiwan.
