His Majesty the King has sent a wreath to the funeral of a retired teacher who was slain by insurgents in Songkhla before they took his pickup to use in a bomb attack.
The King had Songkhla governor Weeranan Pengchan send the wreath to the funeral of Amata Samothanthawee, 63, at Wat Sabayoi in Songkhla's Sabayoi district.
He was killed on Tuesday morning before insurgents used his pickup to carry out a bomb attack in the district.
The funeral rites are held from Tuesday to Sunday and the cremation will be held at 1pm on Sunday.
His Majesty also sponsored the cost of the religious rites and will grant royal fire for the cremation.
