People around the country will be able to place flowers at replicas of the crematorium being prepared for the funeral of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Government Spokesman Lt-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on Tuesday the replicas would closely resemble the elaborate structure being completed at Sanam Luang in Bangkok ready for the funeral from October 25 to 29.
He said the replicas would be installed at sites nationwide by October 15.
Though vast, the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang will not be able to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend the ceremonies, Sansern said, so the Cabinet two weeks ago approved a budget to erect replicas at 85 sites.
There will be one in the Muang district of each of the 76 provinces and another nine in and around Bangkok.
The Bangkok area sites are the Royal Plaza, Khon Muang Plaza at City Hall, the former Government Lottery Office, Nagaraphirom Park, King Rama I Plaza, Dhupateme Royal Thai Air Force Sports Stadium, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec) in Bang Na, Buddha Monthon Park, and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
