Thai fans of Line characters from the popular chat application no longer need to go to South Korea and Japan to buy official Line merchandise thanks to the opening this Friday (June 23) of Thailand’s first Line store at Bangkok’s Siam Square One.
Called Line Village Bangkok, the Bt500-million project covers a total space of 1,500 square metres spread across three floors. And even though the store is not fully complete, visitors can shop official products of Line such as clothing, stationary, dolls, and accessories as well as limited-edition items available exclusively in Thailand.
When completed, Line Village Bangkok will have Line Friends Characters virtual reality, Line character-themed houses where visitors can get up close and cosy with Brown, Cony, Moon, James, Boss and Choco, as well as a cafe with snacks and drinks.
“Today, the Line app covers users in more than 230 countries. Over 94 per cent of Thai mobile phone users use this application, making Thailand the second market in the world. We are confident that Line Village Bangkok will attract Line fans around the world, particularly Asian people. We expect to have some 12 million visitors every year,” says Kampanart Wonghongkul, chief executive of Line Village Bangkok.
