If you want to keep your home safe from intruders - or even protect your furniture from your pet - this 4G CCTV camera is right for you

A SECURITY CAMERA that’s so easy to set up and operate that you don’t need to call in a technician, True 4G CCTV uses a 4G micro SIM card for transmitting video feeds so no LAN cable or wireless LAN connection needs to be established between the camera and your home router.

You simply insert a 4G SIM and plug the power adapter of the camera to a power socket then install the True CCTV app.

Log on to the app using your True ID and then add the camera to the app, using the camera’s ID and password printed at its base.

You can use the app to pan the camera to the left and right as well as up and down when you monitor your house while away.

You can set the feed quality as standard or HD in black and white or in colour. The highest resolution is 720p.

The camera has a security function for alerting you through SMS message or email when it detects motion.

You can put in a micro SD card of up to 32 GB for storing video feeds or you can record video clips or take pictures and store them on your smartphone. The camera can be monitored from five devices at the same time.

During the test, I found that the CCTV was easy to set up. I simply inserted TrueMove H’s 4G SIM, turned on the camera and added it to the app’s monitored device list. If you have several True 4G CCTV cameras you can add them too.

The feed was smooth and good quality. When the feed was reduced to SD quality and back and white, the panning of the camera and video movement was smoother.

The camera also has a LAN port for connecting to a LAN line linked to your home router if the camera is located near it.

Or you can set a wireless connection between the camera and your home wireless router. You can use the app to switch between the three types of connection – 4G, wireless and LAN line.

The camera has a built-in speaker and microphone. You can press and hold the microphone icon of the app to talk to a person on the other side or yell at the cat when you monitor your home and find it ripping your sofa to bits!

True 4G CCTV has a suggested retail price of Bt4,990 and a 15-month warranty. If you subscribe to the 4G IoT package from TrueMove H for Bt399 or Bt599 a month under 12-month contract, you can buy the CCTV camera for just Bt1,500.
