From today until September 17, Fashion Island Shopping Mall is playing host to the 17th Temple Fair Festival offering visitors a range of activities that bring back childhood memories including the classic Ferris Wheel, Dunk Tank Girls, Shooting Games, Lucky Eggs, and more.
The mall’s managing director, Prasert Sriuranpong adds a touch of spirituality be bringing replicas of Buddha statues from five renowned temples along the riverside to which the public can pray during the festival.
“This year, our traditional temple fair features all the entertainment we loved as kids. We’ve divided it into various zones –Wat Pho Zone, Na Phra Lann (Royal Porch) Zone, Rajadamnern Zone, SaphanPhut (Memorial Bridge) Zone, Banglamphu Zone, Bangkok Noi Zone and Bangkok Yai Zone,” he says.
The statue replicas enshrined throughout the 11 days of the festival are Buddha Triratanayok from Kalayanamitr Varamahavihara Temple, said to grant safe journeys and warm alliances, Buddha Dhammisarat Lokkathatdilok (The Insignia Temple of Rama II, Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahaviharn Temple) believed to give blessing for a prosperous life and advances at work, Phra Prathan Yim Rap Fah from RakhangkhositraramWoramahavihan Temple for fame and favours, Buddha Maha Mani Ratana Patimakorn (Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram Temple) for prosperity and wealth throughout the year, and Phra Buddha Saiyas (Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn Temple) for blessings in love.
