Sean Buranahiran – the most viewed social media influencer in Thailand with more than 1.6 million followers on Facebook - will talk about the books that inspire him, namely “The Alchemist”, “The Prophet” and “Musashi”, this Saturday (August 12) in the auditorium on the fifth floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The talk starts at 3.

“The Alchemist”, a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it became an international best-seller translated into some 70 languages as of 2016. “The Alchemist” follows a young Andalusian shepherd in his journey to Egypt, after having a recurring dream of finding treasure there.

“The Prophet” is a book of 26 prose poetry fables written in English by the Lebanese-American artist, philosopher and writer Kahlil Gibran. It was originally published in 1923 by Alfred A Knopf. It is Gibran’s best-known work. “The Prophet” has been translated into 40 different languages and has never been out of print.

“Musashi” is about the life of Miyamoto Musashi, author of “The Book of Five Rings”. Musashi becomes famous during the course of the novel as he searches for both perfections in swordsmanship and in consciousness. Innovating Japanese swordsmanship, he invents the style of simultaneously wielding both the katana and the wakizashi, something unheard of at that time in Japanese history.

Admission is free and the registration starts at 2pm. Find out more at (02) 214 6630-8 extensions 126/127 or email: library@bacc.or.th.
