World Blood Donor Day falls on Friday (June 14) and many Thais chose to mark the occasion in advance by giving blood over the weekend at the National Blood Centre in Bangkok.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) annually invite Red Cross Societies in all countries to organise activities to express gratitude to blood donors so as to raise public awareness of the importance and necessity of voluntary blood donation.
