The body of a woman was found floating on the Chao Phraya River near the Rama VIII Bridge on Tuesday, police report.
The Boworn Mongkol police station was alerted at 11am to a body spotted floating in the middle of the river in Bangkok's Bang Plad district.
The body was retrieved and sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute at Police Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police immediately suspected that the body might be the woman who took a taxi to the middle of Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge early on Monday morning.
Relatives had filed a complaint with police that Nichapha Phoyai, 33, went missing after drinking with friends on Sunday night. They said she might have suicided by jumping from the bridge after a quarrel with her boyfriend.
Relatives later rushed to the hospital and confirmed that the body was Nichapha.
