An aged couple driving their sidecar to a temple were hit by a pickup truck at a U-turn in Phitsanulok on Tuesday morning, killing the wife and severely injuring the husband.

The wife, Jad Timthong, 67, died from a broken neck and also suffered broken arms. Her husband, Win Thuauypun, 73, suffered a severe head wound and a broken right leg.

The pickup driver, Pongsak Sudapuang, 39, claimed that the motorcycle with sidecar blocked his way when it suddenly changed from the left to the right lane as it approached a U-turn. He could not stop his pickup in time, he said.
