Two arrested with 12,000 meth pills

Two men were arrested while trying to smuggle 12,145 methamphetamine pills from the Mekong River bank into Nakhon Phanom's Tha Uthane district late on Thursday night, according to the police.

Tha Uthane district chief Phumisak Khampu named them as Weerachai Sukphuwong, 26 and Saenchai Wongsurin, 26.

The district chief said the two suspects were stopped at a road checkpoint while driving their drug-laden pickup on the Ban None Sawan-Ban Nam Kaew road.

They admitted that they were given Bt50,000 to take the drugs from the river to leave by a roadside in Tha Uthane to be picked up later.
