A business conflict or jealousy are the suspected motives in the killing on Wednesday night of the chief public works engineer with the Krabi provincial administrative organisation.
Montree Upala, 57, was driving his pickup truck on Thungyai-Lamthap Road in Ban Khuankhiam village in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Thungyai district when a hail of gunfire struck the vehicle at about 9.40pm.
Pol Capt Anan Panitkul, deputy inspector of Thungyai police, said the pickup had 20 bullet holes in the windshield, four in the driver’s side window and two in the left window.
Montree’s body was found beside the truck with bullet wounds to the right torso and both arms. Five shotgun shells were found at the scene.
Anan learned that Montree was driving home after visiting his sister and drinking with friends.
