A Thai woman and a Myanmar woman were arrested on Khao San Road on Wednesday night for allegedly selling controlled sedatives and viagra, Deputy Tourist Police commissioner Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal said.

Surachet said Kanchana Mahawongna, 38, and a Myanmar woman, identified only as Nookham, were arrested as part of the “Black Eagles” operation targeting immigrant crime, conducted by a joint force including several police bureaux.

The two were arrested at two drug stores after police determined that they had sold Alprazolam and Zolpidem, which are strong sedatives that are not allowed to be sold over the counter. Viagra was also found in the stores.

Surachet said police also seized 310 cylinders of nitrous oxide gas from roadside stalls in the area, which is popular among foreign tourists.
