Two arrested for selling marijuana to tourists on Koh Samui

Police have arrested a hotel employee and a student for ordering marijuana via Facebook to resell to foreign tourists on Koh Samui in Surat Thani.



The arrests, made on Monday, were announced at a press conference at 6pm on Tuesday by Koh Samui police chief Pol Colonel Paithoon Krachajang.

The two suspects were identified as Chollapruek Sayamol, a hotel employee, and Jakdao Prommanop, a student doing work experience at the same hotel.

Police made the arrests when the two turned up at the office of a private logistics firm to receive two parcels. Three kilograms of marijuana were found inside the packets. Police said they also seized a .38 revolver from Chollapruek.

Earlier, police received tips-off that the two had been selling the drugs to foreign tourist in Tambon Maenam and had ordered more drugs via private parcel service.

Jakdao admitted that he ordered the drug via Facebook for Bt10,000 per kilogram and resold small amounts of it for Bt500, police said.
