One person was killed and 21 others injured in Nakhon Ratchasima just after midnight Thursday when a passenger car crashed into a pickup truck carrying elderly lottery vendors.

Pol Capt Komkrit Fiamadun of Phra Thong Kham police station said the pickup driven by Atipat Khamkhoonna, 27, was approaching an intersection at high speed when the car cut in front of it.

Somsuan Thaenpudsa, 43, riding in the car, was killed. The car’s driver and a second passenger were severely injured.

Komkrit said the pickup was taking 19 lottery vendors home to Wang Saphung in Loei from Sa Kaew.

The collision hurled many of the vendors onto the road. They were taken to a district hospital and the most severely injured were transferred to Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Hospital.
