The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has set up a working group to draw up regulations that would allow for reclaiming and reallocating idle telecom and broadcasting frequencies from state agencies.

Within a month, the working group will finish drawing up the regulations as well as terms and conditions governing the process of reclaiming, the NBTC secretary-general, Takorn Tantasith, said today.

A new version of the law governing the NBTC empowers the watchdog to reclaim the idle frequencies from state agencies. The NBTC will also determine the ways to compensate the affected parties after reclaiming their spectra.
