Cha-Am Police Station superintendent Colonel Pakin Sivamethakul was transferred to an inactive post with effect from Friday but national police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda said it had nothing to do with the fatal attack last month in a dormitory in Phetchaburi province that left one student dead and two others wounded.

Chakthip said Pakin was transferred to assist the Provincial Police Region 7 operation centre. He affirmed that police would ensure justice to all sides in the student attack case.

On February 25, Silpakorn University student Thirapong Thitatharn was beaten up and stabbed in the head with a screwdriver and he succumbed to his injuries on March 2.

As Thirapong's relatives said they were worried the culprits might get away because they allegedly included sons of policemen and politicians, investigation of the case was being transferred from the Cha-am Police Station to the Crime Suppression Division.
