Commerce Ministry, ISOC crack down on piracy

Th Commerce Ministry has joined force with the Internal Security Operations Command to stringently suppress intellectual property right violations in the Kingdom, resulting with copy goods seizure up to 3.6 million items worth more than Bt1.7 billion in recent.

Deputy Commerce Ministry Sontirat Sontijirawong said the Thai government will continuously suppress intellectual property right infringement in particular along cross border as more than 90 percent of fake goods have been smuggled from neighbouring countries. Some 2,368 items of copy goods that have been seized will also be destroyed today to show Thai government seriousness in combat IP violation. With stringently work against intellectual property violations, Sontirat hopes the US government will this year upgrade Thailand's status to Watch List from Priority Watch List.
