National Reform Council member Sira Jennakha said on Sunday he would stand by his promise to return his salary in the past 11 months, amounting to Bt1.7 million, to state coffers.
He said he would return the money tomorrow.
He announced the promise three days ago, saying he would return the money if NRC voted down the charter draft in today's meeting.
He said today that it saddened him that the members rejected the draft that they helped shape up. He insisted that the draft was the best to the people.
The salary of the 247 NRC members is fixed at Bt113,560, but its chairman received Bt119,920 and vice chairman Bt115,740.
