Six killed when Cambodians-smuggling pickup plunges into canal

A pick-up truck allegedly smuggling Cambodians plunged into a roadside canal in Chon Buri's Phan Thong district at 1:30 am Tuesday, killing the Thai driver and five Cambodians, police said.

Police said a Cambodian man, two Cambodian woman, a Cambodian boy and a Cambodian girl were killed.
Eight other Cambodians were injured. Police said the accident occurred after the driver tried to speed away from a road checkpoint on the Phanthong-Koh Loi Road.
