US Senator John McCain said 8 May he is looking forward to welcoming Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at the Congress someday, AFP reported. This was told at a time when the Chairperson of NLD secured Myanmar passport in her hand

A responsible person of NLD Headquarters also confirmed that Chairperson of NLD and Pyithu Hluttaw representative Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has received a valid

Myanmar passport.

In order to receive the 2008 Congressional Gold medal, the highest US civilian award, she is invited by US Congressmen to visit the United States.

It will be her first foreign visit to Norway and Britain in 24 years in coming June. When Norway bestowed the Noble Peace Prize, she had promised to visit that country first at a time if the circumstance is favorable. She lived in Britain for many years before 1988.

In early 1988, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi returned Yangon to attend her ailing mother Daw Khin Kyi. She involved as the public leader in the 1988 democracy movement in the country and founded the NLD party, taking the lead role in the political arena. Since then, she remains in the country without travelling abroad for fear of barring her when she returns home.
