A teenage drug suspect was killed when his car crashed and overturned while he was being pursued by police in Mahasarakham’ Muang district early on Thursday.

Police said the suspect, whose name was withheld because he was 18 years old, died when his car overturned on the Mahasarakham-Kamalasai road at about 1.30am. He was a resident of Yasothon.

The pursued car went out of control and flipped at a section of the road that was uneven and under construction, police said.

About 6,800 methamphetamine pills were found in the car.

Police at a checkpoint in Phayak Phumwisai district of Mahasarakham spotted the suspicious Honda car at midnight and waved it to stop but the car made a U-turn and sped toward the Muang district.

Police chased the car and radioed the Muang police station to intercept it. The car was chased around the Muang district for over an hour before it was found overturned.
